"So Long For Love," directed by Wang Xiaolie and based on his novel "Dad Is A Dog," showcases Wang's versatility as a talented author, director and cinematographer. Wang has participated in many film and TV projects such as "To My Wife," "Super Partner," "The Knot," and "Wolf Warrior 2."
Wang's cinematographic work on "Wolf Warrior 2" may have contributed to securing a special appearance by action star and director Wu Jing in "So Long For Love." This emotional film tells the story of a father (played by Wu Jing) who has an accident while fulfilling his daughter's (Tan Songyun) wish to go skiing before she turns 18. Despite rescue efforts, he passes away. The mother (Yan Ni) and daughter gradually drift apart amid self-blame and misunderstandings until a cute dog named "Kele" enters their lives, seemingly having a "connection" with the late father. Various coincidences bring comfort to the mother and daughter, who eventually fix their relationship through love.
The director, speaking at the Beijing premiere on Nov. 27, expressed his hope that the film would inspire people to reflect on the people they want to see and the loved ones they wish to meet.
Wu echoed the sentiment, saying, "I am very fortunate to have participated in making such a heartwarming story about a loving family. My message to you is: cherish the present moment, cherish everyone around you, and cherish the love that surrounds you."
The dog star, "Ping An," also made a surprise appearance at the premiere, delighting attendees.
